![]() ![]() ![]() game stutters when exiting menus as it has to get out of idle clocks, so I tried prefer maximum performance, and its going down to 2d clocks, and not only going down it seems to do it a lot, the game was a stutter fest. I noticed when playing fable anniversary if I use optimal performance its not that bad but it isnt perfect, e.g. So expected behaviour based on all my old nvidia gpu's, is that when this option is selected the gpu clock speed will never fall below base 3d speed (typically somewhere in the mid to high 1000mhz range.), the benefit of this option is for older games where the gpu is overpowered so it falls down to 2d clocks, but then this causes stutters as 2d clocks wont be enough to run game smoothly, so typically in these games the gpu can have a problem of looping between 2d and 3d clocks, which "prefer max performance" fixes. Happy camper now after three days of grief.Seems this isnt working properly for me, unless its changed by design. Even though I have a 1080p monitor, I was also able to run at 4k through DSR with no problems. As a side note, it seems to be better to control MSAA and Transparency Antialising through Nvidia and leave the MSAA setting at 2x in DCS and no SSAA settings. When I did not have a crash I had terrible performance.Īfter setting this the crashes stopped and I was able to increase sliders to very high settings and DCS runs amazingly well. It seems that this caused the power supply to my card to be "optimized" exactly when it was most needed, causing a driver crash. I had this set for the 970 but when I changed cards I decided to flush clean the drivers and reinstall them, so I lost that setting and forgot to get back to it. The key was to set the Power Management at Prefer Maximum Performance I was disappointed that I had upgraded to a better GPU and could not even fly! I tried all tricks mentioned in the ED forum for crashes (repair, deleting the saved games etc.) but nothing worked. However, in DCS I started having crashes, especially in the F-14 and even on sim startup. After the upgrade all sims were working great, including P3D v4 and v5 and Il-2 COD at very high settings. I recently upgraded my GPU from a 970 to an RTX2070 Super. Just to add that this thread saved my day! I am very grateful for both your time and wisdom here - thank you. ![]() +System details may be found in the dxdiag.txt file within the dcs.log***.zip attachment +I've attached a screen capture of the DCS Systems Settings screen (they are the 'low' setting) +I've attached the log files and also added the output from DirectX's dxdiag utility to the zip file. +I have both renamed and deleted the Saved Games DCS.openbeta folder repeatedly between attempts +I followed BigNewy's excellent repair guide +Any simulation mode: Instant Action, Training, etc. ![]() +The game interface, module manager, logbook, encyclopedia, etc. +Fresh install (I removed and reinstalled the game after the original crashes) 2.5 looks amazing in the YouTube videos I've seen and I'm eager go rejoin. Hello all, I am returning to DCSW after being away for a few years due to the impressive work Eagle has done and the addition of VR. ![]()
